Is It Me Our Are You Staring
My neighborhood gets an A+ when it comes to holiday spirit. Whether it's Christmas, Thanks Giving, or even the election season. It seems like the entire neighborhood almost always participates. Being a new home owner, last year was our first time putting lights up outside. I was excited about hanging up lights, before I actually started doing it. Never the less, I got the lights up and sat back to enjoy the annoyance of lights I had assembled. Pleased with my work. I called the Miss out to take a look. She smiled politely and kept her disgust of my design to herself. After the lights were finally hung with the manager ( Wife's) approval, I couldn't help but notice that people and cars would stop in front of our house for what seemed to be no reason. It didn't dawn on me that they were stopping and enjoying the lights not only on my house but my neighbors as well. My first thought was that they were criminals casing the joint or it was a freakaziod attempting to peer into our windows.
The reality was my own insecurities were getting the best of me. I had turned what was an actual compliment of sorts into a "worst case Scenario". My takeaway from that experience was simply be confident in you and what you do. Assuming everyone is out to get you or has bad intentions is all in your head, most of the time. Sometimes the person making us feel bad about ourselves is the man in the mirror. In your mind you think a person might hate you, when secertly they might think your a great person. So much so that they just don't know how to say it without it sounding wierd (or like their hitting on you). So stay positive. Keep your head to the sky and your feet and solid ground. Till next time God Sped.
